The Dark Knight (2008)

The greatest superhero movie of all time employs an intricate structure of escalating conflict, rising stakes and multiple lines of action that all pay off in an intricate climax that represents the ultimate expression of the controlling theme. Screenwriters David Goyer, Jonathan Nolan and Christopher Nolan first create a heightened “real world” setting to place their characters in, then they proceed to burn it down with no small help from the urban terrorist known as Joker, and all serves to push Bruce Wayne to make the toughest decisions of his life.
