Story Maps: 12 Great Screenplays breaks down 12 GREAT movies (Raiders, Up, Social Network, Rocky, The Matrix, Black Swan, X-Men, Meet the Parents, etc.) + NEW BONUS MAP: Seven!

Story Maps: 12 Great Screenplays (a.k.a. “Booster Pack #1”) is now available in its revised version AND it now includes a BONUS 13TH MAP OF THE BRILLIANT THRILLER “SEVEN!”

The e-book breaks down 13 GREAT MOVIES, primarily from the past decade, into a detailed but easy-to-follow structural analysis known as the Story Map.

Story Maps: 12 Great Screenplays analyzes these films:

  • Juno (Teen Comedy/Drama) 2007
  • The Social Network (Biopic) 2010
  • Hustle & Flow (Music Drama) 2007
  • Raiders of the Lost Ark (Action/Adventure) 1981 (Sample here)
  • Black Swan (Thriller) 2010 (Sample here)
  • Sex and the City (Romantic Comedy) 2008 (Sample here)
  • Meet The Parents (Comedy) 2000
  • The Matrix (Sci-Fi Action) 1999
  • Rain Man (Drama) 1988
  • Rocky (Sports Drama) 1977 (Sample here)
  • Up (Animated Comedy/Action) 2009
  • X-Men (Superhero “Origin” Action) 2000
  • BONUS: Seven (Serial Killer Thriller) 1995

These hit movies are great examples of professional screenwriting in many different genres and budget levels aimed at varied audiences. I stand by each title as a strong example of its genre and as a primer to learn the screenwriting craft at the level that you need to be: the “submission ready” tier that makes a good script into a GREAT script.

Story Maps: 12 Great Screenplays is now available for purchase in a special discount bundle with my E-Book Story Maps: How to Write a GREAT Screenplay or on its own. It is in hi-res PDF format with lightning-fast bookmark navigation and you may print it at home. It is compatible with PC, Mac and any e-readers that can open PDFs.

I hope you enjoy it and I look forward to working with you. Any questions, please feel free to email me.

Good Luck and Happy Writing!

Dan

Purchased the kindle version of “Story Maps”, & though Ive only skimmed through it, I can tell this was a great investment. Te arrangement is nice, it’s easily accessible through the table of contents, & many specific examples are provided to support the concepts. I haven’t fully read it, but I get the feeling this will be a book I RE-read for years to come.

HOWEVER, the sole reason I purchased the book was to finish reading the “ROCKY Story Map”. At the end of the Rocky Story Map PDF sample, I read: “ROCKY STORY MAP CONTINUES in… “Story Maps: How to write a GREAT screenplay” E-book by Dan Calvisi”. So I found the E-book on Amazon, purchased it, only to find: The Rocky Story Map is NOT in the book!

After further research, I found the Rocky Story Map was featured in “Story Maps: Booster Pack #1”. So I purchased this e-book, and found what I wanted.

Now I don’t want a refund, as I feel both books are far MORE VALUABLE than their asking price. I do however, feel misled.

      Hi Charles,
Firstly, I’m glad you’ve liked both books and I’ll send you some free maps for your trouble. Secondly, I should point out that the book descriptions on both my site and on Amazon clearly list all of the maps included in each book, so it would have helped to read the full descriptions before you purchased them.

But, with that said, I agree that the text and link on the final page of the Rocky SAMPLE story map is misleading, so I thank you for pointing out that error and I will fix it as soon as I can.

Again, thank you for your time, sorry for the inconvenience and I’ll shoot you some free maps via the email you provided, assuming it’s a good one.

      Good luck and happy writing,
      Dan

      Hi James,
      Thank you for your interest.

Booster Pack #1 is only currently available in PDF here and on Amazon for Kindle here. (Fyi I’ve heard from several Apple users that they prefer to use the Kindle for Mac app when reading ebooks on their ipad or iphone, rather than iBooks.)

And don’t forget about the new Nolan book: PDF and Amazon!

    Hi

I bought Story Maps, Kindle edition, from Amazon… It did not include the Booster Pack #1. Could I get a get a copy of the Booster Pack #1? Or purchase?
